Going through Shanghai, I took a walk in the New Century park to recover from jetlag. This automated vending machine along an alley offered cones and other icecream, from both Chinese and international brands. This was tempting, and was probably mobilizing my dopamine neuronal circuit, the one that calls us to want "everything, right now". A perfect example from what "Dopamine", a book Daniel Lieberman et Michael Long (2024, éditions First), is describing. The authors advise on how to make good use of dopamine, based on recent research results. This starts with awareness of the "everything, right now" urge.
