One objective, several means

Our stated mission is to raise awareness of the tools and methodologies of social impact management. These tools can and must be used at the same time as — and in connection with — the tools of environmental impact management. At Baies, our guiding principle is to always act with a project’s environmental and social impacts in mind.

In addition to our consulting services, Baies has launched a consultants network, to foster the transmission of best practice in the company’s scope of work.

Addressing both social and environmental concerns

At Baies, we believe that it is crucial to encourage impact assessment applied to local communities at the same time as, and in synergy with, environmental analysis. Project impacts are still too often assessed in environmental terms, with less attention to their social impacts. We take into account both dimensions, thus ensuring a comprehensive, forward-looking mode of assessment.

Combining methodologies and tools

Assessing a project’s impact on local communities involves methodologies used in environmental assessment. By mobilising also expertise drawn from public policy evaluation, one can better anticipate potential risks and take concrete action.

Baies strives to raise awareness of these tools’ complementarity.

Putting local communities at the heart of projects

Baies helps local actors seize new opportunities for effective participatory approaches. We promote broad use of these approaches. Users and inhabitants are thus increasingly involved in preventing the impacts and the risks they face.
