I am just back from Shaanxi Province, China. The Platycadus cypress is highly tolerant to drought. Trees aged several thousands of years have been preserved. The climate is changing: should reforestation focus on this single species or on diversified species? Should tree seedlings be produced from these ancient trees or from diversified sources? These are two of the questions that this KfW-funded forestry project is addressing.
